The aim of this study has been to collect all the available bibliographical and biographical data about Wallace Gould in an effort to estimate the nature and significance of his poetry. The focus of the paper is on the shaping forces of the poet's inspiration, and dI have attempted to show how the background and experience of the man have influenced the scope and material of his work.

No previous comprehensive study of Gould has been made. Thus, research materials were tedious to come by, and the conclusions of this paper may be question able. I have, however, had the …
