This project aims to enhance web extraction techniques pertaining to a specific lexical-semantic group of Russian verbs of sounds, which undergo semantic modifications at the word-formation level (affixation). Additionally, it seeks to organize search results in a manner conducive to linguistic research using Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS) techniques and novel visualization strategies.

The primary objective in this phase of the research was to gather, consolidate, analyze, and present a comprehensive index of all forms of verbs of sound sourced from the A.A. Zalizniak Grammatical Dictionary of the Russian language, hyperlink each verbal form in this index with the Russian National Corpus …

Is there an inherent bias towards male artists in the music industry? Evidence has been shown in previous studies, the most recent being from 2017, that there may be bias towards male artists appearing in Billboard Magazine s Hot 100 list. This study not only updates previous data to include 2017 through 2023, but also looks at the top 40 charts on a week-by-week bias as opposed to the year-end charts that other studies used for their data. Why have other charting companies not taken up as much popularity? How does Billboard determine the popularity of artists? How has this changed with the introduction of the internet? This Poster presentation attempts to trace the journey of one nation of Africans into the Americas. In 1729, the Akwamu Empire, in modern day Ghana, West Africa, suffered a terrible collapse. Rival African armies enslaved thousands of Akwamu subjects and sold them to European slavers on the Gold Coast. This nation later led the biggest island wide slave revolt prior to the age of revolution in the Americas.   1. A large population of people utilize American Sign Language for their primary method of communication.
  2. No commercially available product is available for these people for when they need to communicate with speakers of a foreign language.
  3. We must investigate methods to make communication between these two parties easier and more accessible.
  4. By using a neural network to classify images of American Sign Language letters, we can build a service to make translation of American Sign Language into foreign languages possible.

Opportunities for Undergraduate Research Experience Program (OURE)

The research on computer software to aid inexperienced writers was done from May, 1990 through August, 1990, and involved examining software that would help students improve their writing. The softwares also were evaluated according to their value for use in computer assisted writing classes. The project had three objectives: 1) to evaluate software designed to aid the writer in the pre-writing, writing, and revising stages; 2) to identify the components of this type of software; 3) to recommend software for the beginning academic writer.
