Through the screen interface, the boundary between personal and collective experience is being redefined both spatially and temporally. Here, memories are given independent mediated existence, taking form in digital photographic artifacts that can be communally shared and manipulated into a synthetic continuum.

“Systems Failure” is a substantial array of digitally created images centered on many social and ethical issues that go undetected for numerous people. Many within our society live in silent anguish, something that remains unseen and undiscussed by others. “Systems Failure” shows the outsider a brief look into this life. While some images may seem as if the ugly side of life is being brought out, they are concentrated on the strength of humans. Views of the world come from watching, looking, and feeling emotional relationships between people, things, and places. This fabricated series establishes the willingness to believe the images are actual photographic records by combining subjects viewing a variety of images. Metaphorical narratives show a vision of the incongruent world. The engagement begins with a shadow or back of someone or thing looking into the frame. Color, texture, and form within produce a voyeuristic psychological and emotional response. The paradox is what pushes the edges of expectation.
