The Normative Underpinnings Of Taxation, Sagit Leviner Dr.
The Normative Underpinnings Of Taxation, Sagit Leviner Dr.
Sagit Leviner Dr.
Questions about the appropriate rules and mechanisms of taxation are, first and foremost, questions concerning the nature of society. What can be taxed, what cannot, for what purpose, when, and how, are all matters that go to the heart of society and, in particular, concern society’s underlying beliefs and values vis-à-vis the meaning and attainment of justice. This Article explores the role of normative values and theory in tax policymaking. The urban music of “developing” countries is a privileged form of expression for young people. Music is often subject to the paradox between admiration and disapproval: the talented musician as star or idol, appearing in the media, wearing “in” clothes, etc, as opposed to the unstable musician who is drugged, alcoholic, unfaithful, incapable, etc.

Positioning Of Volunteer Interpreters In The Field Of Public Service Interpreting In Spanish Hospitals: A Bourdieusian Perspective, Maria A. Aguilar-Solano
Maria Aguilar-Solano
This thesis sets out to investigate the field of public service interpreting in southern Spain, with a particular emphasis on the position of volunteer interpreters working at two different healthcare institutions. It looks at the power relationships that develop between agents that hold different degrees of control and autonomy, especially in a context where individuals hold different forms and volume of capital in each encounter. Drawing on Bourdieu’s Theory of Practice, the study offers an in-depth examination of a group of volunteer interpreters as legitimate agents of the wider field of public service interpreting and the sub-field of healthcare interpreting, …
Just Playing In The Sandbox: Fan Identities From A Play Perspective, Linda Börzsei
Just Playing In The Sandbox: Fan Identities From A Play Perspective, Linda Börzsei
Linda Börzsei
The aim of this research paper is to explore online fan culture from a play perspective and analyse the construction of fan identities through narrative and ludic theories. After giving a short introduction to the different definitions of the 'fan', both from in- and outside of academia, I will analyse fandom by tracing play elements and the essential qualities of play, as defined by Johan Huizinga and Roger Caillois. The paper will proceed with the analysis of the identity construction of fans using narrative and ludic theories, as well as investigating how the appearance of ludic digital media influenced identity …
