Es ist in Fachkreisen bekannt, dass viele internationale Großunternehmen Kontrollierte Sprachen einsetzen. Beispiele für derartige Unternehmen sind Caterpillar, Siemens und BMW. Es ist dagegen kaum bekannt, dass es kostengünstige Regelwerke und Werkzeuge für das Arbeiten mit einer Kontrollierten Sprache gibt. Ich möchte mit diesem Artikel kurz in dieses spannende Thema einführen und verschiedene Möglichkeiten für das Realisieren einer einfachen Kontrollierten Sprache zeigen.

This machine translation project involved post-editing (in a customized Trados environment) a typical guide section originally translated in a standard machine-translation system. This process was carefully monitored and we were able to measure how the translation productivity possible in this type of integrated machine translation environment compares to the translation productivity typical for our existing translation process. The results of this initial project are very encouraging: Our tests indicate a productivity gain of approx. 40%.

Mein Anliegen ist zu zeigen, dass der Einsatz von Maschinellen Übersetzungssystemen bei der Lokalisierung von Technischen Dokumenten sinnvoll und vorteilhaft sein kann, und zwar auch für kleine und mittelständische Unternehmen. Außerdem will ich die Bedingungen darstellen, unter denen ein solcher Einsatz Erfolg versprechend ist.

The fourth part presents an extremely efficient but also complex implementation scenario for machine translation. The fifth part describes a less complex but still highly efficient implementation scenario for machine translation.
