This paper provides a reflective analysis of my experiential learning opportunities with Meta Therapy and Western Heads East (WHE). At Meta Therapy, I acquired practical and professional skills as a physiotherapist assistant, putting my scientific knowledge to the test and refining my clinical proficiency. The paper delves into the challenges faced, particularly navigating a workplace conflict, and discusses the strategies employed to overcome it. The opportunity to work with a company as revolutionary as The Walrus and gain experience in the rapidly changing online publishing industry was an honour. Over the summer of 2020, I completed an internship with Western Heads East (WHE), a collaboration between Western University and African Partners. The first part of this report discusses my time as a remote intern during Summer 2020 for the Tanzanian organization, MikonoYetu. MikonoYetu is an NGO that seeks to promote the empowerment and economic independence of young girls, and my team and I were tasked were creating and designing their live website. This internship was supervised by Western Heads East, who also tasked my team with reviewing and suggesting changes for their current website. My experiences at SWIM and READ have led me through many challenges and earned me many successes and have helped me to gain a variety of hard skills and soft skills while letting me improve upon some that I already had. Here, I got the opportunities to work on a book project called “20 Stories of Hope” and to spend a year teaching a young child literacy skills, both of which have given me valuable chances to both find and pursue new passions and to develop my career pathway towards teaching.
