The Effect Of Live Music Versus Tape-Recorded Music On Participation Rates Of Two Populations, Sara F. Flink
The Effect Of Live Music Versus Tape-Recorded Music On Participation Rates Of Two Populations, Sara F. Flink
Honors Theses
For a number of years, differences have existed in the training of music therapists. In some countries, music therapists are trained first and foremost as musicians, and secondly as therapists. Other countries allow music therapy to be practiced by music psychologists, physicians, or educators. Both sides employ varying arguments. Bunt (1988) feels that therapists are either experienced musicians with minimal training in developmental, therapeutic skills, or experienced clinicians lacking in many areas of musical expertise. Bunt further delineates between the two schools of thought by describing how one music therapist may use improvisation to interact with a client and his …

Integrating A Kodaly Music Curriculum Into A Developmental Early Childhood Program, Phyllis Entin
Integrating A Kodaly Music Curriculum Into A Developmental Early Childhood Program, Phyllis Entin
Theses and Dissertations
Nye (1975) states that the music teacher in a developmental early childhood program needs to have a "fundamental understanding of music in order to plan and organize music experiences based on reliable theories of how children think and learn" (p.41). The Kodaly approach is based on theories of child development and learning. Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects

In all, it accounts for a total of 266 motets (listed in the Inventory, Appendix A) that involve conflicting attributions among 122 composers. Rather than placing the emphasis on the problem of determining the correct authorship, however, I have used the conflicting attributions as a springboard in order to shed light on a number of different aspects of sixteenth-century music.
Chapter I briefly surveys conflicting attributions in various genres from ca. …
Selecting Literature To Teach Musical Style In The High School Band, David Scott Lawrenson
Selecting Literature To Teach Musical Style In The High School Band, David Scott Lawrenson
WWU Graduate School Collection
The problem presented in this thesis is how band literature should be chosen for use in the high school band classroom. The purpose of the thesis is to investigate the justification and criteria for selecting appropriate literature to teach musical style in the high school band class. Two questions central to the purpose of this thesis are: 1) Why should style be used as a factor in determining literature selection and, 2) What elements of style are important when selecting literature based on this justification?
In music education, two distinct philosophies concerning performance classes have emerged: aesthetics and performance. The …
