Throughout church history, divorce has been a very sensitive subject, and with the divorce rate of the general population at almost fifty-percent, some controversy is inevitable. The issue becomes even more complex as more Christians, including church leaders and pastors, experience divorce. In light of this increase in the incidence of divorce, missionary organizations will inevitably encounter more divorced men and women who apply for service. The challenge for these agencies is to encompass a biblically based divorce theology that recognizes the seriousness of divorce on one hand while not appearing to submit to cultural influence on the other. This thesis is an effort to determine what principles should be formulated in Christian mission to Muslims to lead them to the saving power of Jesus Christ. The subject matter has been divided into two parts: 1) information relevant to theological doctrines and 2) the recommendations or findings.

Culture Shock And Adaptation Among Student Missionaries To Japan, Sheryl J. Craig

The purpose of this study was to delineate certain parameters of the experience of student missionaries to Japan. This study was a longitudinal, descriptive study which identified background characteristics, aspects of the adaptation process, and stages and intensity of culture shock.

A group of twenty-seven student missionaries were followed from their arrival in Japan, which occurred over a three-month summer period, through the following May, just prior to their expected departure. Data were gathered using interviews, questionnaires, a semantic differential (to measure attitudes), and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory.

Missionary nursing, as one form of nursing and as a method of endeavor, has been neglected in both nursing and mission literature.

It was the purpose of this study to identify, classify, and list bibliographical material which is applicable and would serve as a source of information to those preparing for, and directing others towards, overseas mission nursing.

A Study Of Attitudes Influencing Indonesian Seventh-Day Adventist Youth To Enter Nursing, Wilma L. Leazer

In this study a survey was made of the attitudes of Indonesian Seventh-day Adventists toward nursing. This was done for the purpose of discovering why there is a shortage of women applicants to the Seventh-day Adventist nursing school in Bandung, Java. The study was accomplished through the use of questionnaires administered to four selected groups in two geographic areas of Indonesia, and revealed attitudes of two adult groups and two student group. One hundred and twenty-one persons responded to the questionnaires.
