In this fifth interview, Dr. Spanier finishes his discussion of the administration of the founding Dean of the School of Medicine, Dr. John R. Beljan. He discusses Dean Beljan's interaction with university leaders and the Dayton-area medical community, Dean Beljan's leadership and management style, and Dr. Beljan's move to the Office of Health Affairs as Vice-President.
Dr. Spanier goes on to describe the search for a new Dean, the appointment of Dr. William D. Sawyer, and the subsequent development and growth of the School of Medicine.

Dr. Conley begins the interview with his move from the deanship of the College of Science and Engineering to an appointment as the first Vice-President of Health Affairs Planning at Wright State University.
