The Missionary Method Of Paul As Demonstrated In The Book Of Acts, William Graumann Apr 1937

The Missionary Method Of Paul As Demonstrated In The Book Of Acts, William Graumann

Bachelor of Divinity

This topic will be discussed under a survey of the passages in the Book of Acts, showing the direct reference to methods where that is possible, and pointing out the implications where the methods are not directly stated. In connection with this we wish to make applications to our own missionary methods, which we feel should not only increase our zeal for missions, but should enable us to bring the Gospel in a more effective way to more souls.

The Last Years Of St. Paul, Valentine Eichenlaub May 1931

The Last Years Of St. Paul, Valentine Eichenlaub

Bachelor of Divinity

The Book of Acts ends with the statement that "Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him". The inspired writer does not tell us what took place after that. Hence we ask, did the period terminate with the Apostle's condemnation and death or with his acquittal and liberation? Naturally we have no absolute proof for either contention.

The Companions Of St. Paul, Hugo W. Wolter

In treating a subject of this kind it is natural to ask the question: whom should we consider companions of the Apostle Paul? If we were to consider all those men and women who at various times were his coworkers and friends, we would have a work which would fill volumes. Tradition, likewise, while it is unaninous on some points relating to the Apostle's last days and death, leaves us in the lurch when we approach the question of the exact date of Paul's death. The result of this uncertainty is not merely a contention regarding the date of Paul's martyrdom, …

Chronology Of The Life Of St. Paul, P F. Plunkett May 1924

Chronology Of The Life Of St. Paul, P F. Plunkett

Bachelor of Divinity

Though properly an historical rather than a theological problem, the chronology of Paul's life is important in the field of Bible study, and is closely related to several theological questions, including that of the reliability of Scripture and the authenticity of several books accepted by the church as canonical. Its treatment is historical, but much of the freedom for specualtion indulged in by the average student of history is denied the scholar who treats this subject. Anything which cannot be established with reasonable certainty must be left an open question, and the integrity of the Scripture must remain unmolested.
