Pedagogical Strategies For Student Success In Us History Survey Course, Q2s Enhancing Pedagogy Report, Marc A. Robinson

Q2S Enhancing Pedagogy

This report recounts strategies to maximize student success in an undergraduate, U.S. history survey, large lecture course (HI 201 - United States History 1877 to Present). These instructional measures were part of a larger effort to address student success, called the Q2S Enhancing Pedagogy project, at California State University San Bernardino. Moreover, this report is part of a Faculty Learning Community, “Implementing High Impact Practices to Address DFW Rates.” The pedagogical strategies described here include using Supplemental Instruction, content review coupled with low-stakes in-class quizzes, and direct communication to struggling students. The course syllabus is also included.

Jordan has become known as the home for refugees from the crises that have occurred along its borders. Several waves of large groups of refugees have come to Jordan: 1948, 1967, 1991, 2003, and 2011-present, with copious amounts of refugees coming from different surrounding countries to Jordan. The Hashemite Kingdom is ruled through keeping relations between the Bedouin tribes that have lived in the area from the founding of the country. This has led to the denial of equality for former refugees who obtained citizenship as well as the other refugee populations in areas such as work and education. As …
