This collection contains material regarding Arkansas as a territory and its early statehood. Content includes military bounty land records, a sheriff's census, and a tax receipt for Independence County, Arkansas. Independence county was established in 1820, and originally contained all or part of 15 of Arkansas's current counties, including Fulton, Baxter, Sharp, Izard, Stone, Cleburne, Van Buren, White, Jackson and Woodruff.
