A primary basis for settlement locations in the great basin by the Mormons was the availability of water. The settlement of Heber Valley was no exception.

Water became quickly involved in two important and determining factors (cooperation and self-reliance) in the development of Mormon society in general and Wasatch County's society in particular. In 1939, Herbert E. Bolton stated a need for a synthesizing map of the Dominguez - Velez de Escalante route through the four states of New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona. Dr. Bolton urged that a joint effort be undertaken between state and government agencies to establish an "Escalante Way" through the four states to commemorate the historic trek.

The purpose of this paper is to explain the events leading to and events of the attempted assassination of Theodore Roosevelt in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, October 14, 1912. A comparison and contrast is made between information gained through the study of previously undiscovered primary sources and what has been accepted by and written about by historians. The background of the would-be-assassin and his motives in shooting Theodore Roosevelt have been investigated. The paper is divided into six major parts: Introduction, Nominating Conventions- -1912, Milwaukee, October-14, 1912, Elbert E. Martin, John F. Schrank and Conclusion.

Before Brigham Young College was founded in 1877, a variety of schools existed in Utah. The Mormons at first, and later the Protestants and Catholics made significant contributions to education in the territory.

Education has always played an important role in the philosophy of the Mormon church. In the early days of church history, the Mormons founded schools in the places they settled. This policy continued when they settled in Utah.

The Great Depression In Weber County, Utah: An Exercise In Oral History, Mack S. Taft

By use of oral history techniques, about fifty persons, in eleven occupations, who had lived in Weber County during the Great Depression, who were interviewed concerning their life experiences during the depression. Tape recordings were made and transcriptions were taken from the tapes. These transcripts were presented to each person interviewed for approval. A signed statement granting permission to place transcripts in the Library at Utah State University and The Utah Historical Society was secured from each interviewee.

This paper examines the historical process of water resources development in the Bear River Basin and is based on the thesis that the attitudes of Bear River water users towards development reduce to a concern over the scarcity of water or the potential shortage of water. This concern has been a constant and primary focus of water resources development in the Bear River Basin even as water resources technology became increasingly more sophisticated and the legal and political consideration of water resource development became more complex.
