Though the Earth Give Way is a reimagined telling of the story of King Hezikiah and his resistance of the Assyrian siege of Jerusalem in 701 B.C.. The story is found in the Old Testament, in 2 Kings 18-20 and Psalm 46.

The Hoosier Schoolmaster tells the story of a man named Ralph Hartsook who travels to a rural town in Indiana as its new schoolmaster. Set after the Civil War, the story is know for its accurate and specific use of the rural Indiana dialect at the time.

The original transcript was from 1946 but this copy appears to be from the 1990s, though there are no dates on this document. It may have been retyped on the occasion of Enoch's death in 1992.
