This project analyzes how the act of storytelling, which is comparable to collecting, bears upon the structure of narrative. The connection between the narrative voice of women, their points of view, and how they obtain the power of their voices will be explored in this thesis on the basis of L ’Heptaméron by Marguerite de Navarre and Lettres d ’une Péruvienne by Françoise de Graffigny.

L’histoire et la littérature nous ont légué des représentations contradictoires du paysan. Au-delà de cette dualité dans la représentation, il a existé, à même la littérature du 19eme siècle, une variation importante de son portrait. Des auteurs comme Honoré de Balzac, George Sand et plus tard Emile Zola ont participé chacun à sa manière au développement d’une image particulière de ce personnage.
