This thesis studies the works of James A. Michener as a social historian. Six of his novels, three international and three American, have been examined and shown to be reflections of his deep interest in our country and other lands. His works contain a vast amount of information about the regions or topics. Additionally, they provide the reader with a record of historical events in the manner expected of a historical work.
