The Dynamic Relationship Between Young Spanish Catholics And The Church, Caroline Cox
The Dynamic Relationship Between Young Spanish Catholics And The Church, Caroline Cox
CMC Senior Theses
Research Question: How is the commitment of Spaniards to Catholicism changing with younger generations? And why is this relevant given Spain’s deep roots with the religion?
The Catholic Church and Spain have been highly involved with each other for centuries. It is possible that the Church’s controversies and conservative values are distancing young members from pursuing a stronger relationship with their faith. I predicted that more young Spanish Catholics’ commitment to the Church was wavering because of three potential reasons: increased security and education, child sex abuse scandals involving clergymen, and the institution’s outdated attitudes. Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository
Rev. Gretta Vosper (1958–), currently a serving United Church of Canada Minister in Scarborough, Ontario, has sparked debate in Canadian religious circles as a self-proclaimed atheist. In 2015, her unorthodox approach to public worship and her media statements about the high concentration of atheism among Ministers in the United Church brought matters to a head, and Vosper came under formal review by the Church’s Toronto Conference Ministry Personnel Committee. This thesis will examine the origins, progress and implications of the Vosper case, …

This study aims at examining both concepts – holiness and transcendence – in their similarities and differences through assessing cognitive and emotional processes involved in experiences of objects.
The study consisted of two parts with a total of 206 Christian and 52 nonreligious/atheistic/agnostic participants. …
Virtue Ethics And The Place Of Character Formation Within Lutheran Theology, Joel Biermann
Virtue Ethics And The Place Of Character Formation Within Lutheran Theology, Joel Biermann
Doctor of Philosophy Dissertation
This study strives to provide a way for all parish pastors to reconsider the task of providing ethical training in a parish setting. The intent of this investigation is to encourage a shift in perception that will allow training in ethics to be evaluated and eventually adopted as both practically positive and theologically valid. Failing that ambitious goal, the study can at least prompt further discussion of the appropriate place of training in ethics, that is, teaching the practical matters of living the Christian life. Understood scripturally, the goal is quite simply to provide a way for congregations faithfully to …
