This journal does not have a particular focus. The cover and interior border arts have a theme of “Fantasies”, but overall is a standard mix of articles, fiction, art and poetry. The articles explore subjects of criticism, from both the artist and critic perspective and the feeling of writing for the theater.

Unto Jarvi: A Retrospective had its genesis when a young folklore graduate student, Eric Larsen, met the artist while working on a fieldwork project for Jay Anderson's course in folk art in 1981. Eric wanted to interview a local folk artist, and Unto Jarvi, who lives nearby in Auburn, Kentucky, agreed to talk with him. In the following weeks, Mr. Jarvi and Eric became close friends, and Jarvi shared rich memories of life in Finland and the United States and numerous thoughts about his painting and wood carving. Nexus Literary Journal

Nexus is a magazine that began as an insert in the Wright State Guardian student newspaper in 1965 and has since been published semi-regularly. It began only accepting creative writing, but has since expanded to include illustrations, photography and other non-written art forms. Today, it is published in a digital format and accepts submissions from around the country, though it maintains its commitment to the Wright State Community.

This includes a reading guide for the book because the journal is read right to left, instead of left to right, which ties in to the concept of unlearning. Teaching Figure Drawing To Adolescents Within The Context To [I.E. Of] Imaginative Compositions, As A Means Of Increasing Artistic Confidence And Abilities, Christine Flavell Turner

Dissertations and Theses

This thesis describes a process of teaching figure drawing to adolescents which places importance on the subjective experiences of the students. Traditional figure drawing methods emphasizing the development of visual perceptual skills are integrated with activities which are designed to secure emotional participation, and develop awareness of art as a means of expression and communication. This approach seems to motivate students and to reduce the anxiety usually experienced by adolescents when they are drawing the figure.
