Farmington, due to the oil and natural gas industries there, is now in a building boom which will tend to increase the city limits beyond earlier expectations. Housing presents a critical problem for those settling in Farmington. Due to this problem, the city is expanding with little regard to good city planning. Completely forgotten are the buildings Farmington needs to adequately serve a growing community and its leisure-time needs.

This report investigates the Santa Fe Ski Basin as a location for a resort hotel. The investigation is divided into three main parts, the general area, the Santa Fe Basin, and the design program.

The factors investigated in the general area were climate, topography, fish and wildlife, tourist attractions and competition of other accommodations.

The Santa Fe Basin was investigated with respect to general information, existing facilities and feasibility considerations. All investigations indicated the area had very good potential as a resort area.
