Excavations Of Portions Of The San Pedro Acequia (41bx337) And A Search Fro The Arocha Acequia, San Antonio, Texas, I. Waynne Cox

Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State

Upon notification that the upper San Pedro Acequia was known to be below the anticipated parking lot to be constructed for the VIA Metropolitan Transit System, the Texas Historical Commission (THC) contacted the Center for Archaeological Research, The University of Texas at San Antonio, to investigate and document the site. A representative from the THC examined the site and requested minimal excavation and documentation of the San Pedro Acequia in this location. We recommend that this portion of the San Pedro Acequia is eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.

Following the work on the San Pedro ...

The Engineering Geology Of The Fountain Landslide, Hood River County, Oregon, Susanne L. D'Agnese Jan 1986

The Engineering Geology Of The Fountain Landslide, Hood River County, Oregon, Susanne L. D'Agnese

Dissertations and Theses

The Fountain Landslide located along I-84, five kilometers east of Cascade Locks, Oregon has moved periodically for over thirty years. Aerial photographs taken prior to recorded movement of the landslide show the headscarp of a large preexisting landslide. In 1952 a cut was made into the toe of the landslide to straighten Highway 30. The recorded movement history begins at this time. Stabilization procedures in the late 1950's focused on dewatering the slide mass. Movement had nearly stopped by 1957. A deeper cut was made into the toe of the landslide in 1966 to widen the highway to the ...

Infrastructure Planning In Rural Massachusetts, John R. Mullin, Jeanne H. Armstrong, Meir Gross, Robert D. Yaro Dec 1985

Infrastructure Planning In Rural Massachusetts, John R. Mullin, Jeanne H. Armstrong, Meir Gross, Robert D. Yaro

John R. Mullin

This paper describes the importance of understanding and dealing with the problems of infrastructure planning and maintenance in rural communities. Infrastructure is defined to include roads, bridges, water and wastewater collection and treatment systems, and public buildings and capital equipment. The authors base their findings primarily on the experience of communities in Massachusetts, but these findings are readily applied to the situation of rural communities elsewhere in the U.S.A. and other developed countries. Three major conclusions are presented in the paper: the need for rural communities to develop long-range plans for infrastructure maintenance and finance; the need to ...

East Village Housing New York City, Alice J. Raucher Dec 1985

East Village Housing New York City, Alice J. Raucher

Architecture Senior Theses

The intent of this thesis is to develop low-rise, high density urban housing which will provide its occupants with the basic amenities of light, air, and green space, while reconstructing and extending the fabric of New York City into an area of the East Village.
There exists in the East Village, as in other areas of Manhattan, an uneasy relationship between the low-scale rowhouses and tenements [...] and the monolithic architecture of the superblock housing developments of the 1950s. These rowhouses and tenements [...] provided few amenities for its inhabitants.
The proposed development would investigate new housing prototypes for a mixed-income community ...

Rejuvenation For Manhattan's West Side, Richard J. Kahn Dec 1985

Rejuvenation For Manhattan's West Side, Richard J. Kahn

Architecture Senior Theses

It is the intent of this proposal to redevelop a specific waterfront site, rejuvenating the area into one that people will want to be a part of, rather than shy away from. It will be through thorough exploration and experimentation of this special site condition (pier) that this will be achieved. It is intended that this proposal will develop a catalyst that willl generate further development along the zone of the water's edge. This catalyst will attempt to break away from the form and function of the existing pier buildings, which will make the further development of these sites ...

Keto Pro Diet Not all calories turn into the equivalent. For instance, you'll see that progression eat treats you may eat a total holder examiners and still not feel full. Amid the other hand, you may eat a cut of bread and nutty spread, a few nuts, a chicken white meat or another protein source and promptly feel packed. That is on the grounds that protein may be more filling than basic cabohydrate supply.

Columbus Circle is the term used towards the description of the given condition ("space" or even "place" yields quite inappropriate connotations) integrated into the mid-town zone of Manhattan. The potential of the "underlying grounds" of this condition is unlimited beyond that of any other on the island.
