But there is still a lack of continuous wetland monitoring on long-term and large-area dimension. Because inundation condition is one of the critical parameters to describe wetland hydrologic performance, this study aims to assess the inundation alteration in playa wetlands in Nebraska and evaluate the performance of wetland conservation and restoration practices. Residential building construction along the Mississippi River bluffs in the 1970s created a unique enclosed outcrop of the Late Ordovician Platteville Formation at Lilydale, Minnesota. This outcrop was examined in early 2013 after a newly-formed spring flooded an elevator shaft the previous year, drawing attention to the foundation conditions. The Lexington Riverside property is a six story condominium complex constructed within the top of the bluff. A two-level underground parking garage was built into the bluff. In Sustainable Environmental Design Teaching, Research and Practice Simos Yannas1 identifies the need for a ‘clearly laid out, continuously evolving approach that sees sustainable design as an integral part of architectural training from the outset’. The paper presents a new initiative, EcoScience + Art, which blooms at George Mason University. The creator explains the background, history, and recent activities of the initiative, and also introduces an on-going special project called “The Rain Project”, a student participatory project to design, construct, and monitor a green infrastructure (i.e., floating wetland) for sustainable stormwater management on campus. The special project is geared to design and present a new paradigm to integrate college education, scholarship, and service. The relevance of the initiative and the special project to STEAM education is discussed.

Ecodistricts, or neighborhood-scale, community-driven areas of sustainable development, have emerged internationally and within the U.S. to create models of adaptive environmental design and advanced urban infrastructure. Central SoMa is the first ecodistrict to be planned and implemented in San Francisco, with the intention of revitalizing and greening this urbanized region of the city. Satellite-based precipitation products have been shown to represent precipitation well over Nepal at monthly resolution, compared to ground-based stations. Here, we extend our analysis to the daily and subdaily timescales, which are relevant for mapping the hazards caused by storms as well as drought. We compared the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) Multi-satellite Precipitation Analysis (TMPA) 3B42RT product with individual stations and with the gridded APHRODITE product to evaluate its ability to retrieve different precipitation intensities. Conventional green roofs use sedum for plant cover but growing evidence suggests native species offer better results for harsher environments. There is a growing amount of data being collected from commercial buildings that quantifies their energy use. Very few facilities managers have the means to transform this data to determine how the building is performing compared to expectations. Performance benchmarking of buildings can be used to draw this comparison, but first a benchmark must be established. Many tools exist for equipment fault detection diagnostics (FDD), but FDD alarms do not indicate fault severity. This paper analyzes the effects traffic flow controllers, such as stop signs and stop lights, have on the flow of traffic through a 4-way intersection. In particular, we investigate which controller (either using 2 stop signs, 4 stop signs, or stop lights) to use depending on the number of cars in a lane. We use a method that accounts for a set number of cars in each lane and a car’s velocity based on the distance to the stop line or to the car in front. This study evaluates aqueous diffusible borates in combination with a penetrating oil and a nano-size iron oxide and zinc oxide based wood preservative system for cypress (Taxodium distichum) and western redcedar (Thuja plicata). The objectives are as follows,
