During the heyday of postmodernism in the 1980s, as architects turned to historical styles, urban traditions, and popular culture to rebuild the public support that modernism had lost, Zaha Hadid declared that modernity was an incomplete project that deserved to be continued. This was an inspiring message and its bold vision was matched by projects such as the competition-winning design for The Peak in Hong Kong (1982-1983). A Technical Study Of The Mural Paintings Of The Interior Dome Of The Capilla De La Virgen Del Rosario, Iglesia San José, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Cynthia L. Silva

This is a technical study of the extant murals of the 17th Capilla de la Virgen del Rosario located within Iglesia San José, San Juan, Puerto Rico. The primary objectives of this investigation were to: document existing mural campaigns, establish a chronology of mural painting through analysis of materials and techniques, evaluate the conditions of the paintings and to determine possible deterioration mechanisms, and propose recommendations for their conservation and interpretation. In-situ documentation including color digital photography, extensive field notes, and mapping of visible painting campaigns were conducted. Decorated surfaces on earthen architecture and their structural problems are issues of prime concern to this thesis. It assesses methods of structural repairs to cracks for Early Period (9th-11th century) Monastic buildings in Ladakh, India. The aim is to investigate and evaluate compatible repair techniques for the structural problems in such buildings in accordance with current knowledge for earthen buildings.
