As the world's population rises and becomes increasingly more urbanized, there is a greater demand on our resources. Current energy production practices are based on resources with finite supplies and are associated with environmental impacts such as greenhouse gas and particulate emissions, water resource use, and resource extraction. In contrast, renewable energy production is based on free, continually replenished sources with relatively few environmental impacts. Distributed renewable energy generation involves producing energy close to the point of consumption. The distributed generation model increases energy autonomy at the local level.

These geographic elements hindered, and in some cases prevented, the Latter-day Saint colonizers from fulfilling the seven basic principles of Latter-day Saint expansion and colonization in the Great Basin. The national, state, and local (city and county), codes that apply to landscape architecture and the related professions of architecture, engineering, and land surveying are documented, as is pertinent case law. The present investigation examined the current water demand characteristics and the future water demand of Cache Valley, Utah for the time period of 1990-2010. The demand attributable to agriculture and seven nonagricultural economics sectors was determined and forecasts were performed based on those demand values.

Linear regression, extrapolation, and alternative futures forecasting methods were applied and the various results compared against each other. Three different scenarios were calculated for residential demand to represent different sources and composition of demand information. It was determined that consideration of water demand data excluding Logan City provided the best statistical description of water demand. …

Although tabernacles do not hold the sacred meaning of Mormon temples, they are symbolic landmarks of the culture of the early Mormon Saints. Tabernacles were once an integral part of each community in which they were located. They were often the main buildings in the community, reflecting the coherent, orderly nature of a Mormon town. Today, many of the original tabernacles have been torn down and others are under the threat of destruction.

However, one early change in the city's layout had a profound effect on the direction of Provo's development. In 1852, Brigham Young moved the site of the Provo tabernacle from its original location in the designated public square to a location on the fringes of the earliest city boundaries. The original intent of this paper was to examine early mormon pioneer woodworking. Upon investigation, however, it was discovered that there is one type of early utah mormon woodworking about which very little has been written and which includes some of the best efforts of these early craftsmen. This woodworking is the interior work done in the construction of the early mormon temples. Four of them are, water level fluctuation, pollution, turbidity and the close proximity of other recreation sites of possible high desirability.
