Prepared by the Fall 2008 Conservation of Historic Building Materials class. This Historic Structure Report contains historical information of the Lyon House and the surrounding acreage, architectural descriptions, conditions assessments, maintenance plans, and recommended treatments and uses for the building and site features. The purpose of this document is to serve the stewards of the Lyon property as a reference point for any and all projects suggested for the building and site. The report is a dynamic resource that facilitates the documentation of preservation practices applied to the property.

Introduction:Tacoma’s hilltop community has a rich history of community cohesion and social capital with several groups and councils involved in sustaining neighborhood viability. The area itself is a Mecca for cultural activity with various members of different ethnic, social and economic classes. After meeting with community council members and neighborhood leaders it was clear they have unique nodes, districts and landmarks that represent cohesion and residential fondness. This map displays five alternatives site locations for Tacoma Farmers Markets. Abstract:The purpose of this research was to create the most efficient driving routes for Metro Parks service vehicles using ESRI’s ARC GIS software. Currently the Metro Parks service vehicles do not have predetermined routes, or any sort of tracking devices like GPS. The results of new efficient driving routes include reduced drive time, reduced fuel costs, and more accountability for drivers.

Point sources of air pollution replaces that are stationary, usually major industrial facilities that put out a certain amount of pollutants each year. Students from the Spring 2008 Preservation Planning class compiled and presented these design guidelines to the City of Stone Mountain. The design guidelines were meant to be used as a blueprint for rehabilitation or alteration of historic buildings and new construction. The guidelines present recommended and discouraged courses of action within the historic district. Three character groups are defined, commercial Main Street, a residential area centered on East and West Mountain streets, and Shermantown.

Located on the Ozark Plateau, this 43-unit housing development is a LEED-ND (Neighborhood Development) pilot project to be built for $60/sf plus $2.3 million in infrastructure costs. The studio objective is to design a demonstration project that combines affordability with best environmental practices as designated by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Porchscapes is a pioneering Low Impact Development (LID) project funded under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Section 319 Program for Nonpoint Source Pollution. LID manages stormwater runoff through ecological engineering technologies.
