Study Of Undergraduate Interior Design Student Outcomes Compared To Industry Professional Expectations, Rachel Lantz
Study Of Undergraduate Interior Design Student Outcomes Compared To Industry Professional Expectations, Rachel Lantz
Theses from the Architecture Program
Interior design undergraduate programs must continually address current software available as drafting and modeling platforms. In addition to preparing students to successfully use these programs, educators also have to consider the creative design process and accreditation standards set to ensure students complete their undergraduate degree prepared for a career in interior design. A concern many design faculty share is what technology, including hardware, software, and apps to feature and how to properly implement those technologies into the design curriculum.
This research project aims to review and evaluate criteria for interior design student work to determine if the outcomes match expectations …
Evidence-Based Service-Learning Interior Design Projects: Engaging Undergraduate Students And Advancing The Interior Design Body Of Knowledge, Ann Marie Ragan
Evidence-Based Service-Learning Interior Design Projects: Engaging Undergraduate Students And Advancing The Interior Design Body Of Knowledge, Ann Marie Ragan
Theses from the Architecture Program
Expanding the current interior design body of knowledge (BOK) is essential to the continued development of the interior design profession (Birdsong & Lawlor, 2001; Clemons & Eckman, 2011; Dickinson, Anthony, & Marsden, 2009; Dickinson, Anthony, Marsden, & Read, 2007; Dickson & White, 2009; Guerin & Martin, 2001, 2004, 2010; Martin & Guerin, 2006). The increased use of evidence-based design (EBD) projects in the interior design industry offers interior designers the opportunity to conduct research studies with the potential to create better designs and to expand the existing interior design BOK. Incorporating the EBD process into service-learning projects has the potential …
Interior Designer's Attitudes Toward Sustainable Interior Design Practices And Barriers Encountered When Using Sustainable Interior Design Practices, Leigh Bacon
Theses from the Architecture Program
The objectives of this study evaluated whether interior designer’s had a positive or negative attitude toward sustainable interior design practices. Next, it evaluated the three areas of perceived barriers interior designers encounter when using sustainable interior design practices (project capabilities, transition to sustainability, and knowledge and skills associated with sustainable design). The final objectives determined if attitudes and barriers affected the use of sustainable interior design practices, and determined whether the attitudes of interior designers and the barriers encountered by interior designers were related. Overall, attitudes toward sustainable interior design practices were positive. Barrier scores indicated that factors affecting project …
