Barriers To Use Of Cross-Laminated Timber In Maine, Shane R. O'Neill

Forest Resources Faculty Scholarship

To increase understanding of both the adoption rate and in-state manufacturing of mass timber In Maine, the 131^st Legislature and Governor Mills passed LD 881, a resolve directing a study of the barriers facing cross-laminated timber In Maine and provide recommendations to promote their use in construction. This study was developed in response to the resolve. The study engaged 108 unique participants to define available training, education, and experiences across the stakeholders throughout the building lifecycle process in the state.

From this information, the following five recommendations are proposed:

The Collection is composed of correspondence, financial records, photographs, and plans that were created by Cooper Milliken and his firm, for various clients. The subject of the collection is almost entirely based on his work and is geographically focused around the State of Maine with some outliers in New York and Massachusetts. Some prominent projects included the renovations of Alumni Hall, Fernald Hall and Carnegie Hall at the University of Maine. Architecture Of The Popham Colony, 1607-1608: An Archaeological Portrait Of English Building Practice At The Moment Of Settlement, Peter H. Morrison

From August 1607 to summer or fall 1608, the Popham Colony was established on what is now known as Hossketch Point, in Popham Beach, Maine. Rediscovered in 1994, the archaeological remains of the colony are providing insights into one of England's earliest colonial efforts in North America. Among the most exciting hds, are features relating to early seventeenth-century English building practices. Archaeologists have uncovered evidence of the colony's six meter wide by twenty meter long storehouse, the "Admiral's howse," one of two apparently connected buildings, the buttery general or the Corporal's house; and what has tentatively been identified as the …
