The Salamander was a short-lived student publication released monthly during the 1925-1926 academic year at the Rhode Island School of Design. The March 1925 issue featured poems, stories and RISD campus news. Also included were humorous bits.

The Salamander was a short-lived student publication released monthly during the 1925-1926 academic year at the Rhode Island School of Design. Beginning in January 1926, contents were printed on both sides of the page, mostly comprised of fictional gossip and humor. The issue of February 1926 included poems, RISD sports news, art exhibitions, a concert at Memorial Hall and hand drawn illustrations.

The issue of January 1926 also included a brief article about library reference services for RISD students.

"With five hundred illustrations in black and white, and forty-eight plates in color drawn from nature by the author." Publisher should be G. P. Putnam's Sons. Includes index. Decorated publisher's binding. Title lettering and cover design by Margaret Armstrong, emboss in gold on red cloth, light-orange on edges. "Eighth printing, August 1926" Armstrong was one of the first women to descend to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. She is credited with discovering new flower species there.
