Accordingly we teach the enhypostasia of the human nature of Christ, i. e., the taking part of the human nature in the personality of the divine nature. This we find to be the teaching of Scripture. It teaches: "The Word was made flesh," John 1, 14. God become man not by the conversion of God into a man, but by the Second Person of the Trinity adding a human nature to His divine person.

This report is intended mainly as an inventory of the religious situation in Tennessee. The suggestions offered for improving the rural church, and the comparison of sections of the State in different respects, are necessarily general, and will have to be altered to fit the conditions that exist from one community to another. As a thorough knowledge of local conditions is necessary for a detailed analysis of a particular problem, it would be difficult, if not impossible, for one person to know the needs of all rural churches. The James Michael Curley Scrapbook Collection consists of digitized microfilmed copies of notebooks kept by Curley from 1914-1937. These notebooks contain news clippings that were drawn primarily from Boston newspapers. Curley was born in Roxbury, MA in 1874. He served four terms as Mayor of Boston: 1914–1918, 1922–1926, 1930–1934 and 1946–1950. He also served as Governor of Massachusetts from 1935-1937. In addition to Curley’s political career, the scrapbooks also include clippings about his first wife Mrs. Mary Herlihy Curley (1884-1930) and their daughter Mary D. Curley (1909-1950). A selection of the notebooks were microfilmed in 1962. The microfilm can be …

The purpose of the following study is to set forth, as far as a brief treatment will permit, Ralph Waldo Emerson's manner of using the Bible in his writing. That he had a wide knowledge of the book is proved by his numerous allusions to its characters and events, its rites and symbols, its philosophy and laws. Moreover, his method of supporting his contentions by Scripture, the pertinence of his many paraphrases of familiar Biblical allusions, and the ease with which he quotes and applies Scriptural passages clearly demonstrate his possession of remarkable Scriptural knowledge.
