Leverage And Alcohol Addiction, Tom Gallagher

This paper confronts the question of whether messages can be diluted or even contradicted by the format in which they are delivered through a textual analysis of the TNT procedural drama Leverage, examining the portrayal of alcoholism in the program. The procedural drama, which often focuses on figures in law and order occupations, is characterized by close-ended episodes that often feature happy endings. Alcohol addiction has been a staple of many television programs, but these programs were mostly comedies or serial dramas. Conflict, Memory, and Reconciliation: Bridging past, present, and future

A

A common question shared by many, both individuals and entire post conflict societies, is how to address the trauma between victims and perpetrators impacted by violence while meeting local and international demands for peace, reconciliation and justice. In this paper I focus on an international case study of Northern Ireland, where restorative justice has been used in the community and through the government to address these issues. I explore the concept of “collective memory” and its role in feeding the conflict between Catholics and Protestants over the last 40 years.
