It treats at some length China, the persecutions during the French Revolution, and Ethiopia. A further listing follows as an appendix, covering martyrs and others from Ireland, Madagascar, Algiers, Italy, Brazil, Portugal, Persia, Spain, and other countries.

In 1877, Mariano Maller, the provincial of Spain, was sent on an extraordinary visitation to investigate alleged mismanagement of the American province. This translation of his report is continued from the first issue of volume 18. Maller describes the history of the houses he visits and assesses finances, works, individuals, and the province as a whole. The recommendations he left with the confreres at many of the houses are included. He also suggests naming a new provincial.

The Congregation of the Mission (the Vincentians) arrived in America in 1815. This article traces their history as a mission from Rome (1815-35), a province of the Congregation (1835-88), divided into two provinces (1888-1975), and again into five provinces (from 1975). Its ministries developed from preaching and seminary teaching into other fields, such as university education and foreign missions.
