Culture Conflict As It Relates To A Psychocultural Therapeutic Model For Chicanos, Armando Tena
Masters Theses
Since the Chicano culture is the synthesis of the Mexican and Anglo/Saxon cultures that meet in the American society, social and behavioral scientists have developed the idea of how the concept of culture conflict can be utilized in the psychological assessment and treatment of Chicano clients.
The authors reviewed in this work have expounded on the concept of Culture Conflict to develop a psychocultural mode for the Chicano population. This clinical strategy is based on the premise that the Chicano individual, because of his life experiences in this society, will find himself in situations where his cultural identity is not …

Small Scale Hydropower-Appropriate Technology For Rural Development In Lesser Developed Countries, Stephen R. Harper
Retrospective Theses and Dissertations
Less Developed Countries (LDC's) now have a total of about 2.8 billion people, or approximately 70 percent of the total world population. World populations and current energy consumption are such that is all the world's countries came up to the U.S. per capita energy use, the world's consumption would multiply by a factor of seven. For the LDC's, energy development will be an increasingly important issue. Hydropower technology is on the shelf, and available now, of proven feasibility both technically and economically, and presents a sound and rational energy solution from the environmental viewpoint. It is a technology which could …
The Arthurian Legend In Malory And The 1970'S: A Comparison, Marian R. Rengel
The Arthurian Legend In Malory And The 1970'S: A Comparison, Marian R. Rengel
Culminating Projects in English
The 1970's Arthurian fiction represents the latest step in the legend's growth; Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte Darthur represents a landing five-hundred years down the staircase. The comparison of Malory and these 1970's authors in their handling of Arthur's and Merlin's characters, of magic, and of violence, not only distinguishes between authors and times, but explores the aspects of the legend which future writers will need to consider.
In working with Arthur's story, modern authors return the king to his place of prominence and work with explaining the inconsistencies in his character which they found in Malory - his abdication …

A Study Guide For Eigth Grade Developmental Reading Based On Cooper And Petrosky's Strategies, Barbara Ann Trezise
All Graduate Projects
A study guide, to increase students' ability to use study skills, to read expository and narrative material with greater fluency, and to maintain positive attitudes towards reading, was developed using Cooper and Petrosky's (1976) "A Psycholinguistic View of the Fluent Reading Process." Sequential lessons were designed from available printed materials. A pre/post test attitude scale, study habits survey, and standardized reading achievement tests were administered. Modified miscue analysis provided diagnostic information.

Socio-Historical Studies Of The National Woman's Party And The National Women's Trade Union League, Janet Ellen Joseph
Honors Papers
In every society there are individuals or groups of people who have the power to control, or at least direct, various resources. Resources, an ambiguous term, can mean anything from monetary supplies to legislative sanctions to different objects or opportunities.. Just as there will be individuals controlling these assets, there will also be groups perceiving and expressing discontent. For example, these people may be dissatisfied with the power groups' methods of leadership; they may perceive their needs to be neglected and/or they may want to seize control of these assets and channel resources into their own hands for the betterment …

This study utilized a cross-cultural comparative approach to investigate: (1) whether differences existed in problems reported by three groups of students of both sexes, Mexican, Mexican-American, and Anglo-American; and (2) the extent to which these differences were influenced by ethnicity, sex, or socioeconomic status, or the interaction among those variables. The STS Youth Inventory--Form G and a Personal Data Sheet were administered in the Spring of 1979 to 710 students from five high schools in Northern California. The Cause Of Sobriety : David Lloyd George And Temperance Reform, Philip A. Krinsky
The Cause Of Sobriety : David Lloyd George And Temperance Reform, Philip A. Krinsky
Honors Theses
Temperance was a major British issue after World War I. Excessive drunkenness, not alcoholism per se, was the primary concern of the two parliamentary parties. When Lloyd George enter Parliament the two major parties were the Liberals and the Conservatives. Temperance was neither a problem that Parliament sought to quickly solve nor the single issue of Lloyd George's public career. Rather, temperance remained within a flux of political squabbling between the two parties and even among the respective blocs within each Party. Inevitably, compromises had to be made between the dissenting factions.
