The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). As of Fall 2019 The Anchor has moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

The Girls' Chorus will perform their first concert of the school year on December 5. From February 6-12 the International Relations Club will sponsor the Week of the World event. The trustees decided at a meeting on November 13 that the 1944 Commencement will honor President Wishart. The Women's Self Government Association has made the recommendation that smoking rooms be made in the women's dormitory; this suggestion has been approved and will be made. The Letters to the Editor are on the second page, and the athletics section is on the third page.

Barbour of the Second Presbyterian Church of Knoxville, Tennessee. On November 10, Chile author and journalist Senor Ernesto Montenegro will speak in the chapel. On November 11 noted lecturer, author, photographer, and anthropologist Philip Hanson Hiss will give a lecture. The sports section is on the third page of this edition of the Voice.

On October 11, the bids for the social clubs were released, and beginning Wednesday morning until Friday evening, the clubs began their informal initiations.
