The New York State Dental Journal
The origins of the current “opioid epidemic” sweeping America with its consequent overdose related deaths has resulted in numerous publications accusing the dental profession of excessively prescribing narcotic analgesics leading to the initial addictive episode. These allusions have prompted the national organization representing New York States’ almost 600 oral and maxillofacial surgeons to develop and promulgate in its official journal , a position paper detailing a non-narcotic pain management regimen to alleviate post operative discomfort. However, their pronouncement suggests prescribing a maximum daily dosage of ibuprofen which has previously been documented as causing myocardial infarction and stroke in vulnerable older …

Neuromodulators transform animal behaviors. Recent research has demonstrated the importance of both sustained and transient change in neuromodulators, likely due to tonic and phasic neuromodulator release. However, no method could simultaneously record both types of dynamics. Fluorescence lifetime of optical reporters could offer a solution because it allows high temporal resolution and is impervious to sensor expression differences across chronic periods. Nevertheless, no fluorescence lifetime change across the entire classes of neuromodulator sensors was previously known. Unexpectedly, we find that several intensity-based neuromodulator sensors also exhibit fluorescence lifetime responses. Furthermore, we show that lifetime measures in vivo neuromodulator dynamics both …

Assessment Of Emotional Intelligence Among Students In Dental College, Gowri Nandana S Final Year Student, Sudeep C. B Professor And Head Of The Department Of Public Health Dentistry
Annual Research Symposium
Over an extended period, the examination of intelligence predominantly centered on the adaptive deployment of cognitive abilities. In more recent times, scholars such as Gardner (1983) and Sternberg (1988) have proposed comprehensive frameworks for comprehending intelligence. Pioneering the concept of "emotional intelligence," Salovey and Mayer (1990) posited that emotional intelligence encompasses three distinct categories of adaptive capabilities: the evaluation and expression of emotions, the regulation of emotions, and the utilization of emotions in problem-solving. The objective is to evaluate emotional intelligence among dental students across various educational institutions.

UNLABELLED: Aberrant activation of the NRF2/NFE2L2 transcription factor commonly occurs in head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC). Mouse model studies have shown that NRF2 activation alone does not result in cancer. When combined with classic oncogenes and at the right dose, NRF2 activation promotes tumor initiation and progression. Here we deleted the tumor suppressor genes p16INK4A and p53 (referred to as CP mice), which are commonly lost in human HNSCC, in the presence of a constitutively active NRF2E79Q mutant (CPN mice). NRF2E79Q expression in CPN mice resulted in squamous cell hyperplasia or dysplasia with hyperkeratosis in the esophagus, oropharynx, …

Anchorage control plays a key role in the correction of malocclusion. With the advent of orthodontic bone screws, attaining absolute anchorage control has become hassle free. They have the advantages of low cost, simple surgical placement, and ease of removal; therefore, they are convenient in the treatment of various malocclusions. Although the clinical stability of bone screws is exceptionally high, stability of the bone screws is compromised by factors such as microbial contamination and morphological defects. To overcome this, surface modifications are introduced to enhance the stability of the bone screws.
