Eigenvalues Of The Mean Sigma And Weighted Mean Integral Operators Related To A Gronwall Inequality., Jeffrey R. Kroll

In their paper, Schmaedeke and Sell have established a Gronwall inequality which holds for the Stieiltjes mean sigma and Dushnik iptegrals. In Chapter 2, we shall investigate an eigenvalue problem related to the Gronwall inequality for the Stieltjes mean sigma integral. In Chapter 3, we shall extend the results in [1] to the weighted refinement Stieltjes integral introduced by F. M. Wright and J. D. Baker [2].

Ordered triplets serve to describe space geometrically just as ordered pairs serve to describe the plane. A multiplication can be defined on pairs consistent with the complex numbers. However, as this paper will show, one cannot define a multiplication on triplets which is consistent with the complex numbers.

Many universities and colleges have a considerable number of students enroll whose entrance examination scores indicate deficiencies in high school and pre-high school mathematics. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of programed texts, as compared with conventional procedures, for teaching basic mathematics to remedial mathematics students. The effects of mental ability, study skills and attitudes on achievement through the use of programed texts also carne under investigation.

Interesting classes of such transformations are the classes of ergodic, weakly mixing and mixing transformations. Several articles have appeared in recent years which discuss linear transformations on finite-dimensional vector spaces over the quaternions in terms of matrices, but the general infinite -dimensional situation does not seen to have received much attention. In particular, very little is known about linear transformations on quaternionic Hilbert spaces apart from the obvious theory of Hermitian operators.
