The Impacts Of Peer To Peer Collaboration On Science Self-Efficacy Among 8th-Grade Students, Erin Wilmes (Kaus), Elizabeth Bohnert

This action research project focused on determining the effects peer-to-peer collaboration has on 8th-grade students in a middle school science classroom. The intervention took place over six weeks in two classrooms, whose learning models changed between hybrid and distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020-2021. For this study, researchers collected data through a pre and post-intervention science self-efficacy questionnaire and digital journal, and twice-weekly exit tickets. The results showed that the peer-to-peer model of collaboration implemented in this study increases student self-efficacy significantly, with girls having the most significant increase in self-efficacy. Communication is critical to nursing and considered to be the backbone of successful nursing collaboration (Kear, 2016). Effective communication during delegation from the registered nurse (RN) to the nursing assistant (NA) is important for optimal teamwork and work-flow in the fast-paced inpatient setting. Inconsistencies in the delegation process lead to frustration and disconnect among the nursing staff at a suburban inpatient hospital unit which was the site of this DNP project. The researcher examined how Nonviolent Communication (NVC) incorporated into a Montessori primary classroom would impact student’s social-emotional learning. The students participating in this research came from multiple ethnic groups and nine were non-English speakers. Some showed evidence of trauma that resulted from living in home environments that experienced instability. The researcher modeled NVC communication in her interactions with students whenever possible and then observed and documented their reactions and behaviors during lessons on social skills in 15-minute intervals over 3 weeks. The purpose of this study was to investigate an older adult’s perspective on the influences of smart technology on her communication with a family member. The participant in this single case study was included in a larger, phenomenological qualitative research study that investigated the impact of smart technology on senior care. She lived alone in a senior living facility apartment. The participant received smart home sensor technology, which tracked activity patterns and alerted a designated family member if deviations from typical activity patterns were detected. This research studied the effects three different styles of email content has on sustained parent interest. Emailing is a cost-effective way of offering parents a glimpse inside their child’s classroom; but if parents do not engage with the emails or correspond with the teacher, the effort may be ineffective.. Over six weeks, 81 primary (3 to 6 years-old) parents at a small suburban Montessori school received one of three weekly emails containing photos or text intended to teach parents about Montessori education. The intervention took place over a four week period at a public school in North Dakota. Two hundred and seventy seventh grade students and one hundred and sixty-three parents/guardians participated in this study. This action research study investigated the effects of teacher communication on parent knowledge of the work their child does in the classroom. Forms of teacher communication utilized were parent education events and bi-weekly classroom news. The study was conducted at a small, private Montessori school, and a total of 22 parents participated. Data was collected via pre-information and post-information question sheets, interviews, and education event feedback forms. Previous research suggests that young children are capable of learning conflict resolution skills from an early age. The primary purpose of the present research was to gain a better understanding of how text messaging has affected adolescent communication skills. This research also explored school social workers’ perceptions of ways that texting has impacted adolescents’ lives. Qualitative interviews conducted with seven school social workers explored perceptions of adolescent communication with school social workers, peers, and families, along with benefits and challenges texting presents in adolescent lives.
