An Examination Of The Theology Of Blessing As Found In The Book Of Job, Charles Fox
An Examination Of The Theology Of Blessing As Found In The Book Of Job, Charles Fox
Master of Sacred Theology Seminar Papers
The true blessing that we find in Job, as we will see, is a far different matter! In this paper on blessing as revealed to us in the book of Job I will examine the Hebrew words used there for blessing; the conveyor, content, cause, and purpose of blessing; Job's theological shift; and finally the theology of blessing as revealed to us in the book of Job.

Master of Sacred Theology Seminar Papers
The purpose of this paper is to examine and critique "contextualization", a particular theological method which has seen development in what are often considered areas of World Mission. The aspect of this theological development with which we are most concerned has to do with the role of the Word of God as it relates to the development of theology and theological education. This particular examination consists of three parts; an introduction to the history and development of the term" contextualization", Contextualization and African Theology, and Contextualization and Latin American Liberation Theology. The portion devoted to African Theology will take a …

New Topologies And Parallel Algorithms For Static Interconnection Networks., Srabani Sen Gupta Dr.
Doctoral Theses
Many real-life applications in the areas of signal processing, image processing, etc., require a large amount of fast computations to be performed. Although high speed powerful processors are currently available due to the phenomenal advances in VLSI technology, the increasing demand for massive real-time computations can not be met just by a uniprocessor system. One way of achieving the goal of fast computation is through parallel processing. In parallel processing, a problem is broken into several subproblems, which are distributed among different processors so that each of the processors can perform its task simultaneously. Main areas of recent research in …
Spiritual Nourishment: A Central Christian Metaphor, Susan Sleeth Mosedale
Spiritual Nourishment: A Central Christian Metaphor, Susan Sleeth Mosedale
Dissertations and Theses
Since its origins, Christianity has been pervaded by a large array of images in which the spiritual realities are symbolized as food. Such images may be not only verbal, but visual or expressed in actions. These images can be seen as expressions of a spiritual nourishment metaphor; I apply here the meaning of "metaphor" proposed by the linguist George Lakoff and the philosopher Mark Johnson: a metaphor is a concept that structures ideas and actions as well as language. This thesis establishes the spiritual nourishment metaphor as a philosophical concept and begins to explore its history within Christianity.
The spiritual …

Some Problems In Estimating Finite Population Total And Variance In Survey Sampling., Saswati Bhattacharya Dr.
Doctoral Theses
The problem of drawing inference concerning the parameters of a finite population of identifiable units has been increasingly engaging the attention of statisticians. The central problem here is to devise a suitable method of selecting a sample from the population and to employ an appropriate estimator to estimate the finite population total or mean. A consider- able progress in this field of study has been made and many authors have contributed towards the development of the theory in this aspect of the problem of statistical inferenceNumerous papers have been written covering the first aspect of the problem, namely, method of …

USF St. Petersburg campus Honors Program Theses (Undergraduate)
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) afflicts many children, as well as adults, and can be damaging to a child's well being. As a result, physicians and researchers have invested a great deal of time in investigation [of] the reasons so many children suffer from the disorder. Additionally, searching for a cure has consumed much time and effort. While this goal has not yet been accomplished, researchers have made great advances towards alleviating the symptoms of the disorder. Recently, research has focused on multimodal therapy as an option. Consequently, the child with ADD has several treatments, or combination of treatments, from which …

Concept Vectors: A Synthesis Of Concept Mapping And Matrices For Knowledge Representation In Intelligent Tutoring Systems, Mark L. Dyson
Concept Vectors: A Synthesis Of Concept Mapping And Matrices For Knowledge Representation In Intelligent Tutoring Systems, Mark L. Dyson
Theses and Dissertations
A review of the literature relating to intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) reveals that the bulk of research to date is focused on the student, and on methods for representing the knowledge itself. From student models to learning schemas to presentation methods, comparatively little attention has been paid to the problem of educators attempting to build viable lesson plans for use in an ITS environment--yet when this problem is addressed in the literature, it is recognized as a potentially daunting one. This thesis addresses the problem of ITS lesson plan development by proposing a practical, computable approach for knowledge engineering that …

A Palynological Study Of Two Upland Bogs In The Gulf Coastal Plain, Alabama And Mississippi, Linda C. Pace
A Palynological Study Of Two Upland Bogs In The Gulf Coastal Plain, Alabama And Mississippi, Linda C. Pace
LSU Historical Dissertations and Theses
Fewer Quaternary palynological studies have been conducted in the Gulf Coastal Plain of the southeastern United States than In the northern United States and Canada, resulting in major gaps in the pollen record of this region. The existing studies display discrepancies in the chronology of the pine rise, appearance of the modem climatic regime and vegetation, and timing of the Hypsithermal. In order to fill a gap in the paleoecological data network of the Gulf Coastal Plain, pollen analysis, charcoal analysis, and sediment stratigraphic techniques were used to reconstruct the last 6500 years of Sweetbay Bog, Mississippi, and Minamac Bog, …

Vormärz Of Germany And The Critique Of Heinrich Heine, Andrew Dean Henley
Vormärz Of Germany And The Critique Of Heinrich Heine, Andrew Dean Henley
Dissertations and Theses
The conclusion of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars marked the beginning of the modem world. In western Europe new ideals about the position of the individual and the future of society flourished in the early nineteenth century--prior to the revolutions of 1848. However, the forward move into the modem world was stymied in the multitude of states which composed Germany after 1815. Due to a combination of factors- political repression, conservative/romantic trends, social lethargy, and liberal immaturity--German society in the period 1815-1848--the Vormärz (pre-March 1848) clung to traditional ways. The most famous German writer of this period, Heinrich …
Optimal Block Encoding And Optimal Entropy For Lossless Image Compression, Larry Ray Dennis
Optimal Block Encoding And Optimal Entropy For Lossless Image Compression, Larry Ray Dennis
Dissertations and Theses
In this thesis, a novel approach is designed using a quad-tree stack structure to encode the image to determine the optimal block size at the optimal and effective entropy in the lossless image compression method. Proof is given through encoding of the predictor and randomly constructed planes. There is a high degree of relationship between the placement of bits in the planes. Clearly results shows that use of the optimal entropy and encoding block sizes will increase the compression ratio using the lossless method. The cost of using the block size methods to encoding and entropy is discussed and proven. …
Silica Gel: An Experiment In Surface Area, Scott Vermullen
Silica Gel: An Experiment In Surface Area, Scott Vermullen
Paper Engineering Senior Theses
Within the paper industry today, there are advancements in technology every year, every month, most likely every day as well. These new technologies work to obtain the same major goals. These goals include faster machine speeds for improved output. They-include less, pollution, and in fact are working towards a pollutant free system. And finally, product quality for today's high demanding consumer market.
To realize these goals, paper makers must effectively utilize the most amount of fiber and filler possible in their sheet. That is, they must bind up fines and filler within the sheet rather than sending it to the …
Western Michigan University Teaching Style Survey: A Nonevaluative Scale Of Teaching Style As Reported By Students, Christopher A. Lewis
Western Michigan University Teaching Style Survey: A Nonevaluative Scale Of Teaching Style As Reported By Students, Christopher A. Lewis
Honors Theses
Students know little about the differences between professors that they may at some point come in contact. Students rely heavily on hearsay of others to learn about the teaching style of professors. This hearsay is non-scientific, relying on mainly opinions instead of fact. The Teaching Style Survey (TSS) looks at a professors' teaching style and how it relates to the students' learning style. With this information, students will be able to find professors that complement their learning style, not blindly picking the professor just to fill a time slot. This becomes particularly important when looking at multiple sections and elective …

Examination Of Benefits Of Binaural Auditory Stimulation For Children With A Cochlear Implant And A Hearing Aid In The Contralateral Ear, Evonne Nicol Altesleben
Dissertations and Theses
Congenital or acquired hearing impairments put children at risk of delayed language development. Today the cochlear implant (Cl) is a viable amplification option for some children with profound hearing losses. Audiologists often recommend that children with hearing impairments be fitted with binaural hearing aids in the hope that maximum stimulation will occur and that auditory deprivation will be lessened. An area lacking investigation is whether binaural stimulation will be beneficial to the cochlear implant recipient.Controversy also exists regarding the use of a hearing aid in the non-implanted ear.
The focus of this study was to compare binaural auditory stimulation benefits …

Gender, Ethnicity And Space: The Case Of Racial Ethnic Minority Women Telecommuters In Omaha, Ne, Hope Kawabata
Gender, Ethnicity And Space: The Case Of Racial Ethnic Minority Women Telecommuters In Omaha, Ne, Hope Kawabata
Student Work
Telecommuting is a labor process in which employees work from home on a regular basis, but maintain contact with the office through telecommunications technology such as computer networks, facsimile machines, voice messaging systems, and so on. Telecommuting has become very popular in recent years; however, little is known about its social and spatial impacts. Preliminary research on gender and telecommuting has shown that telecommuting tends to reinforce a traditional division of domestic labor and identification of women with the home; however, whether this is the case for ethnic minority women is unknown. This thesis research used in-depth, semistructured interviews to …
