DLTS Faculty Publications
What began as a vision and committee charge from the dean of libraries at Western Kentucky University (WKU) ended as a successful faculty retreat focusing on the Internet. For the third year all University Libraries faculty from public and technical services, special collections, and the Kentucky Museum set aside one day before the beginning of the fall semester to retreat from their normal library responsibilities and environment to explore, in-depth, a single topic, and in 1993 the retreat focused on the Internet.

Walker Percy And Jacques Ellul: Technique And The Humiliated Word, Bill Jenkins
University of Dayton Review
The modern technological society in which bored, sexually neurotic, autonomous individuals secretly relish news of disasters is a society enmeshed with the frustrations of people who are unable to make technology live up to its promises. The description of these frustrations and their results constitutes a large portion of Walker Percy's writings. Regardless of current debates about scientific paradigms, Postmodernism, late Capitalism, and so forth, most ordinary people and many technologists continue to get along in life by understanding and justifying their actions according to the "powerful credentials of science and technology" (Lost in the Cosmos 113).

DOK is an original screenplay in which DOK blames his brother, Jim, for the death of his wife and son. Jim accepts that blame. DOK handles his grief by wandering from place to place, whereas Jim finds solace through alcohol. They meet up two years later in the town of Ayre. Jim, a reporter, is there to cover DOK's arrest by Special Agent Bill Withers. Jim is unaware that DOK, real name Daniel, is his brother.
