Our team developed a database of 250 Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications useful for social science research. To be included in our database, the AI tool had to be useful for: 1) literature reviews, summaries, or writing, 2) data collection, analysis, or visualizations, or 3) research dissemination. In the database, we provide a name, description, and links to each of the AI tools that were current at the time of publication on September 29, 2023. Supporting links were provided when an AI tool was found using other databases. To help users evaluate the potential usefulness of each tool, we documented information …

The UKY Slang Collection Project is an ongoing effort (Fall 2021-present) to document the use of slang (group-specific language of informal register) primarily among college students at the University of Kentucky. The project is administered by Dr. Zada Komara (Lewis Honors College) as part of HON 140 Knowledge and Society, a foundational seminar about epistemology and ontology. This original research is performed by Lewis Honors College students. Introduction Abstract

A review of new archival evidence for Behn’s marriage and genteel status opens the discussion. The Digital Corpus section describes and delimits the texts that constitute Behn’s literary corpus and therefore structure the arguments made from the data. The plain-text files are traced back through multiple mediations to the first edition publications of the works in the Restoration. The history of relevant quantitative criticism is summarized for comparison, and the distinctions between linguistics and literary criticism are highlighted. Anthropology Datasets

In 2013, Van Dyke excavated a historic residence located at 309^th Paris Street in Castroville, Texas. Beginning in 1844, the house was occupied by the families that had immigrated from the Alsace region of France. Preliminary analyses of the faunal recovered from a lime slaking pit suggested that over the course of the home’s residence, family members incorporate wild taxa into their diet in addition to their traditional Alsatian foodstuffs. Expanded analyses of the faunal remains from additional features provide additional evidence that the diet of the residents slowly transitioned away from a strict Alsatian diet and eventually included …

Given the importance of fresh water, we investigated undergraduate students' understanding of water flow and its consequences. We probed introductory geology students' pre-instruction knowledge using a classroom management system at two large research-intensive universities. Open-ended clicker questions, where students click directly on diagrams using their smart device (e.g., cell phone, tablet) to respond, probed students' predictions about: (1) groundwater movement and (2) velocity and erosion in a river channel.
