An Investigation Of The In-Practice Development And Implementation Of Recess And Pe Weather Policies In Maine Elementary Schools, Lauren E. Jacobs

The purpose of this research was to investigate how Maine elementary schools decide when students may or may not go outdoors for physical education (PE) classes and recess based on weather conditions, and how those decisions impact the actual frequency that students are kept indoors. This topic is important from both education and public health perspectives because previous research has shown that exercise in outdoor settings has specific benefits compared to that done indoors. PE classes and recess in school provide all children with access to physical activity.

Aid for trade (AFT) focuses on helping developing nations to overcome supplyside constraints in trade to maximize trade benefits and use trade to achieve economic growth and poverty reduction. Since its inception at the 2005 Hong Kong ministerial conference, AFT has become viewed as a crucial tool for helping developing countries and donors continue to shift their attention to AFT programs, even in times of prolonged global financial crisis. With urbanization on the rise, policymakers cannot ignore urban conflicts. In the aftermath of the Cold War, several scholars were of the opinion that primitive modes of fighting, such as close combat, would cease to be used. However, as urban spaces have increasingly become battlefields in the 21st century, there has been a retrogression to a brutal and bloody mode of fighting. This thesis explores the Government of Canada’s legislative response to the Carter v. Canada (Attorney General) ruling. More specifically, this thesis analyzes the major issues that afflicted Bill C-14, or An Act to amend the Criminal Code and to make related amendments to other Acts (medical assistance in dying), as it progressed through the House of Commons and the Senate. I utilized a thematic analysis to determine the issues that shaped the debates on Bill C-14 and whether or not they had an impact on the proposed legislation that is now a law.
