This paper examines the roles of Japan's commercial banking sectors. The city banks, long-term credit bank, regional banks trust banks and the Postal bank duties are defines in relation to one another prior to the effects of deregulation. The Ministry of Finance and the central banks responsibility to regulate commercial banks are explored. Unique ideals and regulating methods explain how Japan's bank grew to such strength. Deregulation of interest rates and size of deposits have altered the need for and the cost or primary banking services.
