This thesis rigorously evaluates the application of an array of natural language processing (NLP) techniques and machine learning models to identify linguistic signatures indicative of dementia, as sourced from the DementiaBank Pitt corpus. Patients with COPD experience exacerbated symptoms like breathlessness and cough, significantly impacting their quality of life and leading to costly hospitalizations. Early detection of COPD exacerbations is crucial for mitigating these negative effects.

This research utilizes advanced machine learning techniques to evaluate node vul-
nerability in power grid networks. Utilizing the SciGRID and GridKit datasets, con-
sisting of 479, 16,167 nodes and 765, 20,539 edges respectively, the study employs
K-nearest neighbor and median imputation methods to address missing data. Cen-
trality metrics are integrated into a single comprehensive score for assessing node
criticality, categorizing nodes into four centrality levels informative of vulnerability.

Deep learning is a method of artificial intelligence involving progressively layered neural networks to extrapolate patterns from data to provide predictions. Moreover, given the arduous nature required for examining CT scans for intracranial aneurysms, discovering ways to expedite this process is beneficial. The use of deep learning to evaluate CT angiograms for intracranial aneurysms has been sparsely studied. This literature review aims to determine the accuracy and reliability of deep learning to analyze CT angiograms in patients suspected to have intracranial aneurysms.

Precise intraocular lens (IOL) selection plays a critical role in optimizing surgical outcomes for patients undergoing IOL surgery. Traditionally, only the anterior corneal astigmatism (ACA) was considered during IOL selection. However, the posterior corneal astigmatism (PCA), also significantly impacts vision, though it is more challenging to measure directly. Advancements in deep learning offer a promising solution. By analyzing existing ACA measurements, deep learning algorithms can predict total corneal astigmatism (TCA) with high accuracy, effectively inferring PCA and enabling more precise IOL selection.

Traditional 2D animation remains a largely manual process where each frame in a video is hand-drawn, as no robust algorithmic solutions exist to assist in this process. This project introduces a system that generates intermediate frames in an uncolored 2D animated video sequence using Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN), a deep learning approach widely used for tasks within the creative realm. A novel technique for remote sensing image scene classification is employed using the Compact Vision Transformer (CVT) architecture. This model strengthens the power of deep learning and self-attention algorithms to significantly intensify the accuracy and efficiency of scene classification in remote sensing imagery. BACKGROUND: It is crucial to distinguish unstable from stable intracranial aneurysms (IAs) as early as possible to derive optimal clinical decision-making for further treatment or follow-up. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of a deep learning model (DLM) in identifying unstable IAs from computed tomography angiography (CTA) images and to compare its discriminatory ability with that of a conventional logistic regression model (LRM).

PURPOSE: To establish generalizable pointwise spatial relationship between structure and function through occlusion analysis of a deep-learning (DL) model for predicting the visual field (VF) sensitivities from 3-dimensional (3D) OCT scan.

DESIGN: Retrospective cross-sectional study.

PARTICIPANTS: A total of 2151 eyes from 1129 patients.

METHODS: A DL model was trained to predict 52 VF sensitivities of 24-2 standard automated perimetry from 3D spectral-domain OCT images of the optic nerve head (ONH) with 12 915 OCT-VF pairs.
