Religious Values And Reading Attitudes Of Intermediate Grade Catholic School Students, Sister Mary Anne Zuberbueler O.P.
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This study investigated the relationship between religious values and attitudes toward reading religious content among intermediate grade students in Catholic schools. Students' attitudes toward academic and recreational reading were also considered. Four hundred thirty-six fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students from Catholic schools responded to a 26-item questionnaire regarding their attitudes toward recreational, academic, and religious content reading as well as their level of agreement with seven statements of religious values. Multiple regression analyses revealed a statistically significant relationship between students' religious values and their attitudes toward reading religious content. In addition, a statistically significant relationship was found for religious …

A Holistic Good News: Missional, Effective Evangelism And Lessons Learned While Traveling In The Hoof Prints Of Wesley, Bob Whitesel
Great Commission Research Journal
The Good News can be understood as the message of the missio Dei to which varying methods can be attached. Churches, however, often specialize in a specific part or method of that mission, e.g., helping the needy, emphasizing conversion, or promoting discipleship. This article suggests the Good News has yielded significant historical impact when churches embrace a comprehensive or holistic understanding of the Good News that includes three methodological components: establishing legitimacy by meeting the needs of non-believers, effectively facilitating conversion, and spiritual formation in small communal groups. Missional and effective evangelism nomenclature will be discussed in relation to this …

Nineteenth-century Indian policy in the United States stood at the crossroads of conflicting American ideals. One abiding challenge was the need to reconcile the collision between citizen land hunger and national calls for the humane treatment of Native Americans stemming from the beliefs that all people are created equal and have eternal souls. Throughout the first half of the nineteenth century, the nation deferred the conflict between westward-moving citizens and national sensitivities by relocating Native Americans westward, away from the major flows of settlers. The second half of that century brought Americans face to face with the reality that there …

Cooperation: Churches Working Together Through The Local Baptist Association For Maximum Kingdom Ministry, John Frank
Cooperation: Churches Working Together Through The Local Baptist Association For Maximum Kingdom Ministry, John Frank
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Cooperation is a concept which many churches hold to as a basic belief, yet few incorporate into their ministry plan. With the exception of giving money toward a denominational budget, many churches operate totally independently of other churches. Believers in Jesus Christ can do more in a community as a unified body rather than as splintered groups with individual, and often self-serving, agendas. This thesis project draws together several years of observations and experiences of churches as they have joined together in unity and cooperation. A survey and interview process is used to gain insight and vision from churches and …
