Method Of Transferring Strained Semiconductor Structure, Michael Nastasi

Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering: Faculty Publications

The transfer of strained semiconductor layers from one substrate to another substrate involves depositing a multilayer structure on a substrate having surface contaminants. An interface that includes the contaminants if formed in between the deposited layer and the substrate. Hydrogen atoms are introduced into the structure and allowed to diffuse to the interface. Afterward, the deposited multilayer structure is bonded to a second substrate and is separated away at the interface, which results in transferring a multilayer structure from one substrate at least one strained semiconductor layer and at least one strain-induced seed layer. Trumpeter Swan Survey Of The Rocky Mountain Population, U.S. Breeding Segment Fall 2009, Dave Olson

United States Fish and Wildlife: Staff Publications

Observers counted 473 swans (white birds and cygnets) in the U.S. Breeding Segment of the Rocky Mountain Population of trumpeter swans during fall of 2009, 3.1% higher than the count from last year (459). The number of white birds in the tri-state region (361) decreased for the second year in a row from the recent high count in 2007 (383). The total number of cygnets increased by 3.1% from 2008. The numbers of young produced in Montana and Idaho increased by 66.7% and 76.2%, respectively, from 2008. However, Wyoming had a decrease in cygnet production of 9.1% from that of …

Tell mediated immunity requires T cell receptor (TCR) cross-reactivity, the mechanisms behind which remain incompletely elucidated. The αβ TCR A6 recognizes both the Tax (LLFGYPVYV) and Tel1p (MLWGYLQYV) peptides presented by the human class I MHC molecule HLA-A2. Here we found that although the two ligands are ideal structural mimics, they form substantially different interfaces with A6, with conformational differences in the peptide, the TCR, and unexpectedly, the MHC molecule. The differences between the Tax and Tel1p ternary complexes could not be predicted from the free peptide-MHC structures and are inconsistent with a traditional induced-fit mechanism. The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers a B.S. It also offers an M.S. degree and participates in the "Chemical and Materials Engineering Field" and the "Mechanics and Energetics Field" options of the Unified Ph.D. Program of the College of Engineering and Technology. The Department offers coursework in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, solar energy engineering, the design and construction of machinery, manufacturing processes, aerodynamics, metallurgy, and nuclear engineering. The major research interests of the Department include metallurgical engineering, thermal-fluid mechanics, and systems and design engineering.

The nursing collection supports the basic teaching, research and service activities of the College of Nursing—Lincoln Division. The College of Nursing—Lincoln Division faculty, staff and students heavily use the nursing and related biomedical research collections available from the UNMC McGoogan Library of Medicine. They have UNMC affiliate status and remote access privileges to the UNMC Library collections and subscriptions. They also have been granted UNL affiliate status and remote access privileges to the UNL collections and subscriptions by the UNL Dean of Libraries. Specific research needs are supplemented through interlibrary loan, primarily supplied by the UNMC McGoogan Library of Medicine.

On June 30, 2009 an arbitrator concluded that Natural Resource District (NRD) ground water plans are insufficient to keep Nebraska in compliance with the Republican River Compact (RRC) settlement in dry years. The September 30, 2009 Cornhusker Economics explored the significance of the arbitrator’s decision. In October, the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) proposed three possible dry year plans that would keep Nebraska in RRC compliance. This newsletter explores the DNR proposals.

There is a high degree of interest in organic thin films for lightweight, low power, rugged and flexible electronics. Conjugated organic molecules with polycyclic rings are being considered a major enabler of such applications. Due to a surface tension mismatch between the organic molecule with the inorganic support (mainly silicon oxides), molecular packing inside these thin films is often disordered, which suppresses the device performance.
