Oral Histories
Patty Dukes, birth name Patricia Marte, is a woman of Dominican descent. Her parents left the Dominican Republic to move to Puerto Rico where she was born.
At five years old, she moved to the the United States, the Bronx specifically. Because her father was a member of the military, her family was given the opportunity to move to the US much more easily than other families. She lived with her parents, sister, and “brother” – who is actually her cousin, but was adopted by her family as a brother.
Rephstar, whose actual name is Almilcar Alfaro, is a man …

The Aerobic Art Of Interviewing, S. A. Mchugh
The Aerobic Art Of Interviewing, S. A. Mchugh
Asia Pacific Media Educator
Michelangelo believed that a piece of marble already contained a work of art – his role was to liberate what was inherent. But the majesty, grace and beauty he saw in the stone that became David remained invisible to sculptors who had previously tackled it. In a similar way, the interview can be all or nothing to writers, journalists and oral historians. A person sits across a table, with stories to tell, ideas to impart, facts to confirm or deny, perhaps a lifetime of emotions to convey – but our ability to perceive who is before us, and to engage …

Political Rivalry In Rhode Island: William H. Vanderbilt Vs. J. Howard Mcgrath: The Wiretapping Case, Debra A. Mulligan
Political Rivalry In Rhode Island: William H. Vanderbilt Vs. J. Howard Mcgrath: The Wiretapping Case, Debra A. Mulligan
Arts & Sciences Faculty Publications
The 1939 wiretapping case bared many of the intra- and inter- party struggles that had been festering during the interwar years. Pitting Democrat J. Howard McGrath and Republican William H. Vanderbilt, two energetic and ambitious rival politicians, against each other, this scandal raised the issues of the right to privacy and the legality of using evidence obtained through electronic surveillance. Additionally, the case exposed the heated rivalry between the old and new guard within the Republican Party, while simultaneously restoring harmony among the competing forces within the Democrat Party.
Expanding The Pool Of Volunteers: Enticing Ethnic Minorities To Become More Involved, Melanie J. Randle, Sara Dolnicar
Expanding The Pool Of Volunteers: Enticing Ethnic Minorities To Become More Involved, Melanie J. Randle, Sara Dolnicar
Faculty of Commerce - Papers (Archive)
In Australia the value of volunteering runs into the tens of billions of dollars each year. The multicultural nature of Australia has resulted in greater heterogeneity amongst volunteers; however minorities are still under-represented in mainstream volunteering. Using the Theory of Planned Behaviour to structure the study, the volunteering behaviour of ethnic minorities is investigated. All three constructs are found to be relevant for volunteering; however, the role that each construct plays varies between ethnic groups. Findings are significant for managers trying to attract volunteers from different ethnic groups because marketing messages can be targeted to the factors most influential in …
Recovering Spiritual Direction In The Protestant Tradition, Morris Dirks
Recovering Spiritual Direction In The Protestant Tradition, Morris Dirks
Doctor of Ministry
The purpose of this dissertation is to foster a commitment to the development of spiritual direction in the ongoing care of pastors within the Protestant tradition. The need to recover this practice, once well established in the church, is made obvious by the increasing challenges faced in ministry and the spiritual and emotional impact now experienced by pastors. More and more leaders are losing their way as a result of the unchecked stress fostered by the overwhelming expectations, whether real or perceived, which are placed on them. Pastoral responsibilities have been significantly compounded by the increasing programmatic and executive functions …
