Drinking Water In Egypt: The Effects Of Water On Egyptian’S Health, Aneesa Akbar-Uqdah, Sam Highsmith, Sara Tonsy
The Undergraduate Research Journal
The Nile River, often thought of as the backbone of Egypt, has been source of great sustenance and mobility throughout the years. Due to the failure of a multilayered system, however, Egypt has had difficulty providing its citizens with clean drinking water. This paper examines the perceptions regarding this matter, as well as causes and solutions as provided by experts.

Of Fine Lines, Blunt Instruments And Half-Truths: Business Acquisition Agreements And The Right To Lie, Jeffrey M. Lipshaw
ExpressO
In this article, I expand upon a happy coincidence (for scholars) in reconciling the overlap between contract and fraud. Both the recent book by Ian Ayres and Gregory Klass and the Delaware Court of Chancery in Abry Partners Acquisition V, L.P. v. F& W Acquisition, LLC addressed the issue of promissory fraud – the making of a contract as to which the promisor had no intention of performing. Each treatment, however, in focusing on fraudulent affirmative representations, falls short of (a) recognizing the fundamental aspect of deceptive promising in a complex deal, namely the half-truth, (b) articulating an appropriate doctrinal …

Dancing Through Film Musicals: Narratives In Motion, Dara Phillips
Dancing Through Film Musicals: Narratives In Motion, Dara Phillips
Masters Theses
The purpose of this study was to discover if and how dance communicates vital plot and character information nonverbally. The example analyzed was the film Singin’ in the Rain. This thesis examined the six dance sequences in the film to determine if the dancing is an integral, powerful, and significant communicative addition to the film. Walter Fisher’s Narrative Paradigm was used in conjunction with Seymour Chatman’s concept of kernels and satellites to determine if the dances communicated significantly to the film’s viewers. The Narrative Paradigm, though loosely framed, provided the concepts of coherence and fidelity. These concepts helped determine if …

Northrop Frye And The Phenomenology Of Myth, Glen Robert Gill
Northrop Frye And The Phenomenology Of Myth, Glen Robert Gill
Department of Classics and General Humanities Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works
In Northrop Frye and the Phenomenology of Myth, Glen Robert Gill compares Frye's theories about myth to those of three other major twentieth-century mythologists: C.G. Jung, Joseph Campbell, and Mircea Eliade. Gill explores the theories of these respective thinkers as they relate to Frye's discussions of the phenomenological nature of myth, as well as its religious, literary, and psychological significance.
Gill substantiates Frye's work as both more radical and more tenable than that of his three contemporaries. Eliade's writings are shown to have a metaphysical basis that abrogates an understanding of myth as truly phenomenological, while Jung's theory of …

A Study Of Instructional Technology Resource Teachers In Virginia's Public School Divisions: Who Are They And What Do They Do?, Kimberly M. Hooker
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this research was to examine the role of instructional technology resource teachers (ITRTs) within Virginia's public school divisions focusing on how ITRTs used their time throughout the school year to integrate technology into the curriculum. Based on data from surveys of current ITRTs, the researcher investigated further to find relationships, if any, among the professional and educational backgrounds and work calendar of these teachers and their responses to their actual role. The study also addressed training that the ITRTs have received to assist them in their job duties and explored the participants' perceptions of their roles as …

Usability Studies With Virtual And Traditional Computer Aided Design Environments, Syed Adeel Ahmed
Usability Studies With Virtual And Traditional Computer Aided Design Environments, Syed Adeel Ahmed
University of New Orleans Theses and Dissertations
For both the CAVETM and the adaptable technology possessed by the University of New Orleans, crystal eye glasses are used to produce a stereoscopic view, and an ascension flock of birds tracking system is employed for tracking of the user's head position and position of a wand in 3D space. It is argued that with these immersive technologies along the use of gestures and hand movements should provide a more natural interface with the immersive virtual environment. This allows a more rapid and efficient set of actions to recognize geometry, interaction with a spatial environment, the ability to find errors, …

Application Of Fuzzy Critical Path Method To Airports Cargo Ground Operation Systems, Tzeu-Chen Han, Cheng-Chi Chung, Gin-Shuh Liang
Journal of Marine Science and Technology
To cut down cost in a competitive environment, airlines must avoid delays and operation inefficiencies in both airside and landside. However, previous studies have paid little attention to an airlines’ ground operation in airports’ cargo terminals. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how to employ the Fuzzy Critical Path method (CPM) to find out airport’s ground critical operation processes and improve. The result of this study suggests redesigning airports’ cargo handling processes can improve airlines’ freight service performance in terms of freight handling speed, cargo service quality, and freight handling cost in hub airports.

The Chicano Mural Movement Of The Southwest: Populist Public Art And Chicano Political Activism, John Kenny
The Chicano Mural Movement Of The Southwest: Populist Public Art And Chicano Political Activism, John Kenny
University of New Orleans Theses and Dissertations
This work examines an art movement that was a direct outgrowth of a populist civil rights movement of the late 1960’s in the Southwest United States. This art, the Chicano Murals created as part of el Movimiento in San Diego, California was intended primarily as a didactic communication medium to reach into the barrios and marginalized neighborhoods for the primary purpose of carrying a resistance message to the semiliterate mestizo population within. Its secondary purpose was to bring a message from within these minority neighborhoods outward to the privileged elite, both Anglo and Hispanic, that within the confines of the …
Getting Langue Winded How The European Union Language Policy Came To Be, Clinton R. Long
Getting Langue Winded How The European Union Language Policy Came To Be, Clinton R. Long
Student Works
While many people remember hearing about the French Revolution slogan of libert, galit et fraternit ringing through the streets of Paris in the eighteenth century, fewer people remember hearing about similar ideals ringing through the streets of Brussels, Bonn, and other European capitals in the 1950s with regard to the language policy of a united Europe. Even those familiar with the language policy of the European Union (EU) and its predecessors only talk about how the EU language policy is langue winded (langue means language in French) due to its inefficiencies without considering that these ideals-equality in particular-shaped the very …
