Seminary Masters Theses
This thesis explores the history and theology of the Washat religion. The indigenous Native American peoples along the mid-Columbia River and Cascade Range of Washington and Oregon have a rich, intriguing, spirituality connecting them strongly with the Creator. This thesis assumes a disconnection for most of American Christianity with regard to the worship of the Creator (from now on, Creator and God will be used synonymously) in connection with the earth, something that the Washat give supreme priority. American Christianity can learn much from a spirituality that takes stewardship of the earth, along with many other aspects overlooked in American …

People As Prophets: Liberation Theology As A Radical Perspective On Accounting, Lee C. Moerman
Faculty of Commerce - Papers (Archive)
This paper presents Latin American liberation theology, a contextual theology, as a radical perspective to inform and critique accounting and issues of accountability. The notion of sacred and secular is explored as a dualism which limits theological insights at the socio-political level. By rejecting dualism, liberation theology presents an alternative ontological stance. Studies in critical accounting have focussed on the repressive nature of accounting. This paper provides critical accounting with a theological insight that has the potential to inform an emancipatory or enabling accounting project. Enabling accounting has been studied from the perspective of gender, class, ethnicity and environment (Chew and …

Doctor of Ministry
Distance Education Leading To Ordination (DELTO) is a program of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) designed to prepare individuals for pastoral ministry. It is non-residential, and it is contextual, as those in the program are already engaged in ministry.
Three concerns about DELTO are addressed in this work: the first is that it is a "dumbing-down" of pastoral formation; the second is that it is not possible to form a spiritual commWlity of support on-line; and the third is the need for the seminary faculty to have enough information to be able to confidently certify DELTO graduates for ordination.
