Semantics-Enabled Framework For Knowledge Discovery From Earth Observation Data, Surya Srinivas Durbha
Semantics-Enabled Framework For Knowledge Discovery From Earth Observation Data, Surya Srinivas Durbha
Theses and Dissertations
Earth observation data has increased significantly over the last decades with satellites collecting and transmitting to Earth receiving stations in excess of three terabytes of data a day. This data acquisition rate is a major challenge to the existing data exploitation and dissemination approaches. The lack of content and semantics based interactive information searching and retrieval capabilities from the image archives is an impediment to the use of the data. The proposed framework (Intelligent Interactive Image Knowledge retrieval-I3KR) is built around a concept-based model using domain dependant ontologies. An unsupervised segmentation algorithm is employed to extract homogeneous regions and calculate …
Integrating Database And Data Stream Systems, Rutul Mashruwala
Integrating Database And Data Stream Systems, Rutul Mashruwala
Theses
Traditionally, Database systems are viewed as passive data storage. Finite data sets are stored in traditional Database Systems and retrieved when needed. But applications such as sensor networks, network monitoring, retail transactions, and others, produce infinite data sets. A new system is under research and development, known as Data Stream Management System (DSMS), to deal with the infinite data sets. In DSMS, Data stream is a continuous source of sequential data. In Object-Oriented languages, like C/C++ and Java, the concept of stream does exist. The stream is viewed as a channel to which data is being inserted at one end …
Ad Hoc File System, Swarup Datta
Ad Hoc File System, Swarup Datta
Theses
Ad hoc File System (AFS) is middleware for peers wishing to share and access data in ad hoc fashion. AFS permits processes to export local files and import files shared by other processes. Communication between hosts is facilitated by the M2MI Framework, a novel paradigm for building collaborative systems. The API provided by AFS allows for data to be exported to the middleware, which become accessible to hosts running AFS. Interested peers can import exported data to their local system, allowing uniform access to local and remote files. Peers can also unexport and unimport data undoing effects of export and …
