Determination Of The Constitutive Equations For 1080 Steel And Vascomax 300, Zachary A. Kennan

Theses and Dissertations

The objective of this research is to establish a better representation of the components utilized in a gouging event being considered in research leading to a better understanding of the Holloman High Speed Test Track. Gouging occurs when two metals are traveling at a slight incline to each other at velocities nearing 1.5 kilometers per second, and results in a structural failure of both the metals. The gouging process occurs at very high strain rates, which results in non-linear stress-strain relations. The coefficients that lead to the Johnson-Cook equations have been determined by the Split Hopkinson Bar test for 1080 …

One hundred thirty-three parents completed measures on extracurricular activity participation, academic performance, and mental health for their children in Grades 3-12. Results indicated one significant linear and one significant curvilinear relationship between extracurricular activity participation and school performance of adolescents. As adolescents were involved in additional extracurricular activities, their school performance improved (in a linear relationship), while median amounts of activity were related to the best grades (in a curvilinear relationship). Although these results were significant, their practical meaningfulness …

Factors That Impact The Instructional And Technical Support Provided By Site-Based Technology Coordinators In K--12 Schools, Douglas B Hearrington

UNLV Retrospective Theses & Dissertations

School districts are increasingly employing teachers as site-based coordinators to support and facilitate a myriad of information and communication technology (ICT) related innovations. This study describes the barriers and enabling conditions influencing the technical and instructional support, and staff development provided by these coordinators. Diffusion theory (Rogers, 2003) and a staff development model developed by Guskey and Sparks (2000) were used as frameworks for this study of 134 coordinators from a large school district; The findings of this study indicate that staff development and instructional support fell well below desired levels, and timely technical support is increasingly difficult to provide. …

Assessing The Impact Of Increased Air Conditioner Load On Power Quality In Australia, Lianne Mollier, D A. Robinson, Sarath Perera, Victor J. Gosbell, Frank Bucca

Faculty of Informatics - Papers (Archive)

Measurements of performance of existing technology air conditioner systems with regards to their impact on power quality in LV distribution systems are presented. Three types of split-phase air conditioners are studied including direct on line starting, soft starter and inverter fed units. Results of testing and subsequent calculations illustrate that the direct on line and soft starter units do not meet compliance requirements of the relevant standard, and as penetration of air conditioners increases, voltage fluctuations may become a significant problem in some LV distribution systems in Australia.

Assessing The Needs For Intermediate Diaphragms In Prestressed Concrete Girder Bridges, Anand Kumar Chandolu

LSU Master's Theses

Reinforced concrete Intermediate Diaphragms (IDs) are still being used in prestressed concrete (PC) girder bridges in Louisiana. Some of the advantages of providing IDs are disputed and also use of IDs increases the cost and time of construction. There is no consistency in the practice of providing IDs among various states and codes of practice and overall there is a lack of clarity on the effectiveness of IDs and their needs in prestressed concrete bridges. The objectives of this research are to assess the need of reinforced concrete (RC) IDs in PC girder bridges and to determine their effectiveness and …
