Despite the increasing number of experimental mapping showing that human arithmetic cognition is supported by widely spread neural circuits; the theoretical reasoning about these data remains mostly metaphorical and guided by a connectionist approach. Although neurons at distinct areas in the brain are assumed to take charge of different duties in the solution of the experimental task, the results are always discussed by hypothesizing some association between the different areas without questioning any difference of behavior at the level of the neurons at each of these areas. La electroencefalografía se ha convertido en una herramienta muy útil en el diagnóstico de alteraciones cerebrales conocidas o inciertas, el propósito de este estudio es determinar una técnica de electroencefalografía digital y cuantitativa en perros sanos bajo anestesia con Propofol y Tiopental Sódico, que permita determinar la influencia de éstos agentes anestésicos sobre el electroencefalograma, EEG, y así obtener guías objetivas para la toma e interpretación de registros electroencefalográficos. These studies were completed to examine how status epilpeticus seizure characteristics are modulated during post-juvenile brain development. This may determine if postnatal age in rats is a better identifier of stages of post-juvenile brain development. The first study fully detailed the acute discrete seizure phase of the rat pilocarpine-SE model. Results for this study showed that Racine behavioral severity score, spike frequency, and seizure severity during the acute discrete seizure phase change in relation to post-juvenile brain developmental stages.
