This study analyzed the sustainable development issues associated with energy planning. Energy planning was identified as a local framework of sustainability which has a global significance. This study started by examining the concept of sustainability in its historical context, and attempted to extract the applicable sustainable development conceptual framework for urban planning. Next, the linkage between sustainable city planning and energy issues was reviewed to see how energy planning can be a tool for local sustainable development. The United States would benefit greatly by reforming the national system of taxation to encourage more saving and investment. Doing so would help to achieve faster economic growth, higher levels of unemployment, and smaller budget deficits. Specifically, a savings-exempt income tax on individuals and families coupled with a companion cash-flow tax on business should replace the existing federal income taxes.

In the 1993-94 Western Athletic Conference men's composite rankings, New Mexico finished third for the second consecutive year. It's only the fourth time in the past 11 years that New Mexico finished lower than second. The women's athletic program at UNM placed sixth in the 1993-94 WAC women's composite rankings. A total of seven sports were represented by individuals or teams at their respective NCAA Championships, while 10 of UNM's 18 WAC-affiliated sports finished fourth or higher in the conference standings. Overall, New Mexico won three WAC Championships during the 1993-94 athletic season including men's basketball, women's golf and men's …
